Ert(e)n- • part of toponyms linked to the occurrence of grey seal. It is used in different combinations like e.g. Ertenstein, Ertenvågen, Ertenvågosen, Ertenvågdalen, Ertenøyane, Ertenbogen, Ertnbraken, or Ertnråsa. Similarly, Erkna as (part of a) toponym is also linked to grey seals.
