Ilhéu da Baleia is a volcanic rock formation in the Ponta da Barca Bay (municipality of Santa Cruz da Gracios). This geological formation is part of a protected landscape area, more precisely the Important Bird Area (IBA) of Ilhéu da Baleia and Ponta da Barca Bay. The basaltic rock of this formation has a reddish color and is shaped somewhat similar to whales that gave it its name.
